Meet Ema.

Counsellor. Compassionate human. Mother. Community space holder. Fellow traveller on the path back to authentic  Self.

I believe healing happens in relationship — with yourself, with others, with the earth.

My story

The path to this work wasn't a straight line.

Where I began

I came to Canada as an immigrant, carrying the weight of an uprooted life. There is a grief in leaving your culture — quiet, ongoing, never quite resolved. And alongside it, real gratitude for the life this country made possible. Both live in me still. That threshold became my teacher.
Becoming a mother changed everything. It was the milestone that asked the most of me — and where I saw most clearly that the survival strategies I'd learned were no longer serving me, or my young family.

What changed me

Anxiety and depression were the call I couldn't ignore. Reaching out for counselling took courage — and it opened something. I began to learn how to feel, to regulate, to find safety in my own body. Survival mode was no longer the only option.
Training in somatic and trauma-informed approaches shifted how I understand healing, not as fixing what's broken, but as returning to what's whole.
I learned to trust the body. The breath. The earth.

Where I am now

Today I sit with women navigating their own thresholds; motherhood, grief, identity, and change. This work is my calling. And an ongoing practice of my own. I am still becoming, too.

I didn't become a counsellor to tell you what to do, but rather to accompany you in this discovery process of finding your answers.

What it feels like to work with me.

Before anything else, my job is to create a space where you feel safe enough to arrive, share and be exactly as you are.

Active listening

I hear what's said and what isn't. Nothing gets rushed past. Together we build trust and safety to anchot into.

Non-judgment

All of you is welcome here — the messy, the scared, the unsure, the exhiled, the young parts of you frozen in the past calling for attention.

Following your lead

You set the pace. No personal agenda on my part. We collaborate on the goals, whenever you're ready.

Genuine presence and care

I'm not a technique. I'm a person who shows up fully for you, holding the highest possibilities for your personal growth and healing.

Informed by evidence. Guided by relationship.

My practice draws from many evidence-based modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-focused Somatic Therapy to name a few.

You always have a choice to let me know about what works for you, and what does not, and we can decide to change which tools we utilize whenever neccessary in service of what's most beneficial for you, not what's most fashionable.

Trauma-Informed

Safety is the foundation. We never push past what you're ready for and we build a safety anchor to go back to when needed.

Rooted in Body Awareness

The body holds what the mind can't always name or acknowledge. We learn to listen to sensations, emotions, experiences and messages it holds.

Based in Safe Attachment

Relearning to trust ourselves and others though relational safety. Re-connection and healing happens in relationship. The corrective experiences we nurture in session are powerful source of support, growth and possibility.

Grounded in  Nature

The nature on our planet Earth has always known how to recharge and ground us as well as calm our nervous system. I weave this into the work.

I acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional territory of Lekwungen-speaking Coast Salish peoples of the Songhees Nation,  Xʷsepsəm Nation, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. This is only a small part of the reconciliation efforts needed to acknowledge past mistakes, heal our relationships and live in harmony on this planet.
